Dr Habiba Perveen

Habiba is a physician and public health researcher whose work concerns the people who deliver health care — what the job costs them, and what that costs the system.

She trained in medicine at East West Medical College and took her MPH at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, with advanced training in epidemiology, biostatistics and research methodology. She is completing an Executive Master of Health Economics at the University of Dhaka, which extends her work into economic evaluation and strategic health policy design.

Her research centres on occupational stress, family responsibility dynamics and health workforce resilience — the conditions under which clinicians and health workers keep doing the work well, and the conditions under which they stop. It is an area where Bangladesh has more assertion than evidence, and the evidence is what she works on.

Six years of teaching at Army Medical College sit behind that: medical education, research supervision and the scholarly development of people entering the field. She brings the same standard to the institute — methodological rigour, analytical precision, and taking a question all the way to a publication-ready output rather than stopping at a finding.
