About The Ideology

A research and evidence institute based in Dhaka, Bangladesh — working with organizations here and internationally, and conducting our own research on questions that matter.

We design and conduct research, evaluation and impact assessment for organizations across Bangladesh and internationally; we provide methodological and scientific support to researchers and institutions; and we conduct our own research on questions in public health and social wellbeing.

We were founded in 2026 by researchers who had spent their careers watching good evidence go unused.

That is a common experience in this field, and it is rarely anyone's fault. A study is commissioned, designed well, conducted carefully, written up properly — and then it sits in a folder. The programme manager who needed it has moved on. The community it was about never hears the results. The policy it should have informed is made on other grounds.

We built The Ideology around a straightforward response: research should not end at publication. A study is finished when someone who needed to know something knows it.

That commitment shapes how we work. We spend longer at the start getting the question right. We design for defensibility rather than for convenience. And we treat communication — to decision-makers, to practitioners, to the public — as part of the research, not as an optional extra funded from whatever is left in the budget.

Why we exist

Bangladesh does not have a shortage of research. It has a gap between what is known and what is done.

Studies are commissioned and completed. Findings are presented once and archived. Communities that participated rarely learn what was found. Practitioners who could act on it never see it. Policy is made on assumption where evidence exists but is unread.

Closing that gap is the whole purpose of this organization. It is why our awareness work is not a communications function attached to a research firm — it is the second half of the research process.

What we are for

Mission and vision

Our mission

To generate rigorous evidence on questions that matter, and to make that evidence reach and be used by the people whose decisions depend on it.

Our vision

A Bangladesh — and a wider world — where decisions in health, policy and social development are made on evidence, and where the people affected by those decisions have access to the same evidence as the people making them.

Our approach

Ask → Investigate → Translate → Act

Five commitments that shape every study we run.

01

THE QUESTION

Most weak studies are weak because the question was vague. Sometimes the conversation reveals you need a different study than the one you asked for. We will tell you that.

02

SCRUTINY

Every design choice is made assuming a technical reviewer will examine it. Research that cannot survive review cannot support a decision.

03

DATA

Trained enumerators, piloted instruments, supervised fieldwork, documented cleaning. Quality is built in during collection; it cannot be added afterwards.

04

TRANSLATION

Which products a study needs — brief, summary, visual, article — is a design decision made at the start, not an afterthought.

05

THE LOOP

Wherever we can, we return findings to the people who provided the data. It is a basic ethical obligation and it is almost never done.

What we hold to

Five things we will not trade away

RIGOUR BEFORE SPEED

We will tell you what a question honestly requires. If a timeline will not produce a defensible answer, we will say so before you commission the work rather than after.

HONESTY ABOUT UNCERTAINTY

Findings come with limitations. We state them. A result presented with more confidence than the data supports is not a service to anyone.

INTEGRITY WITHOUT EXCEPTION

We do not sell authorship, write theses, guarantee publication, or shape findings to a client's preference. These are conditions of working with us.

EVIDENCE IS NOT ONLY THE CLIENT'S

Wherever confidentiality permits, findings should reach the people they concern.

Local knowledge is technical knowledge

Understanding the context is not the soft part of the work. It is what makes a sampling frame valid and an instrument answerable.

How we are structured

Two registered entities, one standard

The Ideology operates through two registered entities, and we are explicit about it because it affects how you contract with us.

The Ideology Foundation is a registered non-profit. It conducts our own and collaborative research, applies for research funding, and runs our awareness and community programmes.

Ideology Limited is a registered limited company, incorporated on 24 August 2026 (RJSC No. C-213391/2026). It delivers contracted research, evaluation and advisory services to clients.

Both operate under the same methodological standards, the same ethics framework and the same team. Grant-funded and public-interest research runs through the Foundation; commercial contracts through the company. Full details are on our Legal & Registration page.
