We use Google Analytics, connected through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to see which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets cookies in your browser that distinguish one visit from another. We also run a visitor-statistics plugin that records page views inside this website’s own database.

We do not use advertising, retargeting or profiling cookies. We do not sell or share analytics data with advertisers, and we do not try to identify individual readers.

Embedded content

Where we embed a map or a video, that provider may set its own cookies. We use the privacy-enhanced version of an embed wherever the provider offers one.

How to control cookies

Analytics cookies are set when you arrive, because this site does not yet show a consent banner. Until it does, you can block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, browse in a private window, or install Google’s own Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking them changes nothing about how this site works for you.

Why we are telling you that

We intend to add a consent banner that defaults to declining non-essential cookies, because a choice that is hard to decline is not consent. Until that banner exists, we would rather state plainly what this site sets than describe a choice we do not yet offer.
