What we collect

• Website visitors — analytics data and cookies, as described in our Cookie Policy.
• Enquiry forms — the details you enter, including any file you upload.
• Newsletter subscribers — your email address, and nothing else.
• Membership applicants — the details on the application form.
• Research participants — handled separately and to a higher standard; see Data Protection & Research Confidentiality.

Why we process it, and on what basis

To respond to your enquiry, to administer membership, to send the newsletter you asked for, and to understand how this site is used. Our basis is your consent for the newsletter and analytics, and the steps necessary to respond to your request for everything else.

Who we share it with

Named processors only: Hostinger, which provides our web hosting, databases and email; Google, which provides Google Analytics through the Site Kit plugin; and the plugins running on this site — Fluent Forms, which stores form submissions in this website’s own database, and a visitor-statistics plugin that records page views in the same database. We do not sell data, and we do not share enquiry content with anyone outside The Ideology.

International transfers

Our hosting, email and analytics providers run infrastructure outside Bangladesh, so data they process on our behalf may be held on servers in other countries under those providers’ own terms. Form submissions and membership applications are stored in this website’s database on our hosting. If you want to know where a particular piece of your data is held, write to info@theideology.org and we will tell you what we know.

How long we keep it

Enquiries — 24 months from your last contact with us. Where an enquiry becomes a contracted project, it is kept with the project file instead, for as long as that contract requires. Newsletter — until you unsubscribe. Membership records — for the duration of your membership and 24 months afterwards. Analytics — for the retention period set on our Google Analytics property; we hold no separate copy. Research participant data is not covered by this policy; see Data Protection & Research Confidentiality.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to its processing, or withdraw consent at any time. Write to info@theideology.org and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when our practice changes, and we date every version.
