The more you can tell us, the more useful our first response will be. A terms of reference or a concept note is ideal, but two paragraphs are enough to start.
We respond within five working days. There is no charge and no obligation for an initial discussion. We use what you send only to respond to your enquiry, in line with our Privacy Policy.
What happens next
1. We read it properly — not an auto-triage.
2. We respond within five working days, usually with either some questions or a proposed time for a scoping call.
3. If we are not the right partner for this study, we say so, and where we can we suggest who is.

What to include
You do not need all of this to write to us. But the more of it you can answer, the more useful our first reply will be.
- The decision the evidence has to inform — not only the topic.
- Who the study is about: the population, and where they are.
- Whether this is a new study, a repeat of something, or a second opinion on work already done.
- Any terms of reference, concept note, theory of change or donor requirement you are working to.
- When you need the findings, and what you have to spend.
- Whether ethical approval already exists, or will need to be obtained.
What a proposal from us contains
If the scoping call goes well, you receive a technical and financial proposal: the proposed design, sampling and sample size, instruments, timeline, team, deliverables, the ethical approach and the budget. Every assumption is written down so you can argue with it.
You are free to take it to another provider for comparison. We would rather lose on price than win on vagueness.
What happens to what you send
Your enquiry is confidential. We use it to respond to you. We do not share it, publish it, or use it as an example of our work without your written permission.
If you would rather have a confidentiality agreement in place before you send anything detailed, say so in your message and we will arrange one first. Our Privacy Policy sets out how enquiry data is stored and for how long.
Not sure it is a research question yet?
That is a normal place to start. Describe the problem in your own words and we will tell you whether research is the right instrument — and if it is not, what would be. Sometimes the honest answer is that a smaller study, or no study at all, serves you better.
